2026–27 Provincial Asset Inventory Data Collection Is Now Open

Provincial Geriatrics Leadership Ontario (PGLO) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026–27 data collection cycle for the Provincial Specialized and Focused Geriatric Services Asset Inventory (PAI).

The PAI is the only provincial data initiative dedicated specifically to clinical services for older adults living with dementia, frailty, and seniors’ mental health conditions. Since its inception in 2018, the Asset Inventory has played a critical role in strengthening system-level understanding of geriatric service capacity, demand, and gaps across Ontario.

Why Your Participation Matters

Your contribution helps ensure that the provincial picture of specialized and focused geriatric services is accurate, complete, and actionable.

Strengthening provincial planning and decision-making
PAI data is used by Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health to support capacity planning, demand forecasting, and policy development. Previous analyses have highlighted key system pressures, including long wait times, regional inequities (particularly in rural and remote areas), undersupply of primary care-based geriatric services, increasing caregiver distress, and rising emergency department use and hospitalizations among older adults with frailty.

Making your work visible and valued
Last year’s Asset Inventory captured:

  • 392 programs delivering geriatric and seniors’ mental health services
  • More than 585,000 clinical visits
  • Over 142,000 unique patients served

These findings demonstrate the essential role of specialized geriatric services in supporting aging in place across Ontario. Ensuring your program is represented this year strengthens recognition of your contribution and supports system-wide advocacy for appropriate resourcing.

Supporting local service planning and improvement
Programs consistently report using PAI data to:

  • Benchmark activity and staffing
  • Understand referral patterns and wait times
  • Inform operational planning and quality improvement
  • Strengthen business cases and funding proposals
