New Clinical Guidelines for Older Adult Care

The Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health has recently launched two 1st of their kind clinical guidelines for practice with older adults.

These guidelines include: the (1) Canadian Guidelines for the Assessment and Treatment of Anxiety in Older Adults (available at: https://ccsmh.ca/areas-of-focus/anxiety/clinical-guidelines/), and (2) Canadian Clinical Guidelines on Social Isolation and Loneliness in Older Adults (available at: https://ccsmh.ca/areas-of-focus/social-isolation-and-loneliness/clinical-guidelines/). These clinical guidelines are aimed at supporting healthcare providers in evidence-based assessment and treatment with older adults, and are highly relevant to care partners, patients, program managers, health administrators and others. They have been developed through rigorous systematic reviews and led by physicians at the forefront of geriatric mental health innovations in both Ontario & across Canada.

CCMHS’s 3rd set of guidelines will launch in early April on Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia in Older Adults: https://ccsmh.ca/areas-of-focus/dementia/clinical-guidelines/
